The New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) has confirmed a revised fee model that will take effect from 1 January 2027.
As the number of complaints received by the New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS) has more than doubled over the past year, the cost of providing Ombudsman services has increased significantly.
Following consultation with registered developers, NHQB has reviewed its fee model to ensure it remains fair, transparent and sustainable. Feedback received from developers directly influenced the final model.
The revised model creates a clearer link between developers who generate more complaints and the cost of handling those complaints, helping to ensure that developers with few or no complaints are not contributing disproportionately to the cost of Ombudsman investigations.
It also reflects NHQB’s commitment to supporting the early resolution of complaints, improving customer outcomes and maintaining confidence in the protections provided by the New Homes Quality Code and the New Homes Ombudsman Service.
