Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Housing Ombudsman Service

The Housing Ombudsman Service has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Homes Ombudsman setting out how the two bodies will work with each other.

The MoU is based on the relevant provisions rooted in the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Housing Act 1996, whilst also recognising that the New Homes Ombudsman is a voluntary scheme at present for new-build developers.

The MoU describes the roles and responsibilities of each organisation, establishing a clear structure for cooperation and communication between the two bodies and their respective functions.

It also further clarifies any potential overlap in the jurisdiction of the Ombudsmen to ensure complete transparency, and that it is clear to both parties which complaints they investigate.
