Each year, we review our fees for developers, taking account of the feedback we have received from developers over the course of the year, plus challenges in the operating environment and any particular issues experienced by different sized developers. 

The New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) is pleased to announce that more than 50% of all new homes sold in England, Scotland and Wales are now protected by the New Homes Quality Code (NHQC).

The first meeting to start the review of the New Homes Quality Code has been held by the Code Council on 26 March in London.

A clear and resounding message from attendees at the Parliamentary Roundtable ‘Building Consumer Confidence in New Homes’ was echoed across the room in favour of the New Homes Quality Code (NHQC) and the New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS) becoming statutory. This is to make sure consumers are provided with consistent levels of protection and to raise the quality of new homes throughout the UK.

Emma Toms has been appointed as Chief Executive of the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) with effect from 1 March 2024.

The New Homes Quality Board (NHQB) welcomes the recommendations for a single mandatory consumer code for all housebuilders operating in Great Britain and for the New Homes Ombudsman Service (NHOS) to be activated, as part of the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) Housebuilding Market Study final report, published on 26 February 2024.

The New Homes Quality Code has been granted Stage 1 in the Chartered Trading Standards Institute’s (CTSI) Consumer Code Approval Scheme (CCAS).

Welsh Senedd Housing Minister Julie James warmly welcomed the launch of the New Homes Quality Code and Ombudsman at a launch event in Cardiff Bay last night. Addressing developers operating in Wales and other decision makers in the Welsh capital, the Minister spoke of the importance of giving consumers a better deal and praised the work of the New Homes Quality Board and partners across the sector in bringing positive change to the homebuying experience.
